Don’t second-guess yourself. Decisive people will always get shit done, because they are almost always the ones who actually decide to do so. And I have good news! Anyone can be decisive. I heard somewhere that the human brain makes nearly every decision, both major and miniscule in the first two seconds of deliberation and the rest of the time, whether it be five more seconds, hours, weeks, or sometimes even years is spent trying to justify the decision that they have already made.
Two seconds.
That’s how long it took you to decide where you wanted to go to university, or if you wanted to go out with that person. That’s how long it took you to decide whether or not you were going to keep reading after I told you what decisive people get done. It took two seconds for you to decide whether or not you were going to click on the link that led you to the words on this page. And it will take you two seconds to decide whether or not you believe them.
I’m not saying to live in a state of constant reactionary, knee jerk decisions. Take time, think, deliberate, weigh the options and emotions, then decide and most importantly act on that decision.
Having the ability to make a decision in two seconds means nothing if it takes you two lifetimes to make a move.
The amount of growth and progress we see in our lives is directly correlated with the level of risk we take. We are either willing to lose all that we currently possess to gain all we could accomplish and become or we are willing to forfeit all that we could accomplish and become in an effort to cling to what we currently have. Let go, or give up. Those are the options.
What will you choose?
I’ll give you two seconds to think it over.
