How will you ever change the world if you’re so hell-bent on fitting perfectly into it? We don’t solve a puzzle by being one of the pieces. We take a step back, look at the big picture and then realize that solving the puzzle is actually a waste of time. Nobody showcases a puzzle they solved because essentially, at its core, solving a puzzle is just trying to duplicate someone else’s creativity. Duplication of past solutions is not how heroes stand out in history. If someday, you want books to be written about you, the most efficient way to make that never happen is to do the same thing as all your predecessors. At best you will be a footnote in the biography of an original thinker.
Don’t solve the puzzle. Forget the puzzle. Be the solution.
You will stand out, which can be intimidating at first but you will never change the rules if all you do is follow them.
Following the status quo will earn you a place among all the other complacent followers. They will quietly respect you, your leadership will quietly tolerate you and the future will quietly forget you.
